Sunday 30th March 2008 Kirby Muxloe Knights 1 Dynamo Whites 1 Dynamo whites ended their 7-a-side league campaign with another good performance which unfortunately didn't yield as good a result. Dynamo were much the stronger team and dominated the first half with the wind behind them. The Kirby keeper was tested on several occasions before Matthew Tambini scored from the edge of the box to take the lead. Minutes later dynamo appeared to have scored again after a goalmouth scramble, only for the referee to disallow the goal. Straight after half time Kirby were harshly awarded a free kick after what appeared to be a perfectly fair tackle from Josh Phillips, and with the wind behind them they scored with the kick. Credit to the dynamo players for not letting this frustration distract them from their game, and they continued pushing forward looking for the winner. Liam Heane came close with a diagonal shot across the goal, the Kirby keeper made one excellent double save and then right at the end Kyle O'Donaghue saw a powerful shot glance off the cross-bar. Man of the match was Josh Phillips for his tireless running and tackling in defence, coupled with a couple of strong shots from distance. The game ended 1-1 which was harsh on dynamo who had been the better team throughout, and means they missed the chance to end the season in 3rd place. But great credit to the team for a fantastic season which has seen them improve greatly to be a good footballing side capable of holding their own against any team in their division.
Sunday 2nd March 2007 Dynamo whites 2 Quorn Terriers 0 Dynamo whites followed up last week's good performance with another to beat mid-table neighbours Quorn Terriers. Again the match was played with a strong wind down the pitch and captain James Price won the toss to play with the wind first half. Dynamo used the wind well, pressurising Quorn who found it hard to get out of their own half. Dynamo were moving the ball well and shooting from distance whenever possible, Kyle O'Donaghue and Alexander Reed putting shots wide of the goal. The pressure eventually told when Kyle O'Donaghue moved the ball across the goal for Matthew Tambini to slot into the far corner. Dynamo kept up the pressure and soon doubled their lead, Matthew Tambini collecting the ball on the edge of the box to turn and lash the ball into the top corner. In the second half dynamo had to contend with the strong headwind, but if anything they upped their game, running with the ball and producing some good inter-passing. Quorn threatened more than in the first half, but keeper William Harkness worked his goal kicks well to clear the lines. Liam Heane kept the ball well and ran strongly down the right wing, Matthew Tambini just missed a hat-trick when the Quorn keeper turned a long diagonal shot round the post and Thomas Hall nearly scored with a clever flick from a Kyle O'Donaghue corner. Man of the Match went to Josh Philips for another confident display, chasing down the ball in every challenge and spreading the ball to his wide players. Overall another great team performance which showed the team could maintain the high standards shown in the previous game.
Sunday 24th February 2008 Loughborugh FC Youth 2002 1 Dynamo Whites 2 Dynamo whites turned in probably their best performance of the year to beat table topping local rivals Loughborugh FC Youth with a great display to avenge their 5-0 defeat at home earlier in the season. Loughborough FC had the wind behind them in the first half, and pushed forwards strongly with their front three all confident running with the ball. Dynamo's defense of Jawad Uddin and James Price were well organised though, restricting the number of shots on goal. The two teams were evenly matched and the game flowed both ways, until FC took the lead after a goalmouth scramble, with the ball bouncing off a dynamo defender into the net. Dynamo however refused to let their heads go down, and soon equalised when Matthew Tambini made a great run down the right wing to the bye line and crossed over for Josh Philips to volley in from close range. After half time Dynamo had the wind behind them, and started to pressure the FC defense. Liam Heane made some good runs down the right wing and put a couple of strong shots just wide; and Kyle O'Donaghue as usual was strong in midfield. The balance of the game had swung to dynamo, and they were rewarded with a second goal after good battling for the ball in the box from Thomas Hall freed the ball for Josh Philips to score his second. As time ran out FC pressed forward looking for an equaliser, but dynamo nearly sealed the match when Josh Philips missed out on a hat-trick when the ball bounced off the post and rolled across the goal line. Overall a very good quality game of football from two evenly matches teams, with a great performance from all the dynamo whites players, reproducing in a league game what they regularly show at training sessions.
Sunday 17th February 2008 Ibstock Panthers 0 Dynamo Whites 0 It was a case of 2 points dropped for dynamo whites after drawing another game they dominated. In a scrappy first half dynamo struggled to hold onto the ball, but did fashion some chances with good strong runs down the right wing from Liam Heane, one ending in a good shot which went straight to the keeper, and another fine cross to the far post which Matthew Tambini turned round the post. The second half continued in a similar fashion, with man of the match Kyle O'Donaghue making some trademark runs through the centre. Dynamo's defensive team of Thomas Hall, James Price and Jawad Uddin looked comfortable throughout, so much so that keeper William Harkness had little to do other than clearing well upfield to launch another attack. Credit to the Ibstock defense for cancelling out the dynamo moves as they neared the penalty box, and for defending well against the many dynamo corners. Alexander Reed came closest to scoring with a right foot shot which came off the outside of the post, then Kyle O'Donaghue appeared to be pulled back as he burst through on goal near the end but the goal wouldn't come.
Sunday 3rd February 2008 Dynamo whites 0 Coalville Ravens 2 Dynamo whites' 3-match winning streak came to an end against league leaders Coalville in difficult conditions with a very strong wind. Playing with the wind in the first half, dynamo had most of the possession and territory. They forced several corners which were fired in well by Kyle O'Donaghue, but couldn't force any real affots on the Coalville goal. Coalville were a well organised team, breaking forward with several attackers whenever they won the ball, and they took the lead just before half time. Dynamo had to defend for most of the second half against the wind, but they stuck to the task well. Man of the match William Harkness in goal made a string of excellent saves, but the constant pressure told eventually and Coalville doubled their lead. Dynamo themselves looked dangerous on the break, with Josh Philips making some strong runs, and Alexander Reed keeping the Coalville defenders busy. Despite the result, overall a good battling performance against a strong side.
Sunday 6th January 2008 Dynamo - 4 Kegworth Imps - 3 Dynamo whites showed good strength of character to come from behind to win this evenly matched game. The game started brightly with both teams playing good football, and Kegworth took the lead through a penalty midway through the first half when defender James Price mistakenly picked up the ball in the box thinking it had already crossed the line. Dynamo came back almost immediately to score through a trademark burst through the middle from Kyle O'Donaghue. Kegworth then restored their lead after a goalmouth scramble to lead 2-1 at half time. Dynamo carried on where they left off to equalise almost straight from the re-start, with Matthew Tambini finding the top corner of the net with a strong cross from near the corner flag. This was a good open game, dynamo keeping their shape well with Jawad Uddin and James Price assured at the back, and good passing through midfield. They were rewarded when Josh Philips calmly fired in a goal from the left hand edge of the box to go in front for the first time, only for Kegworth themselves to find an equaliser soon afterwards with a similar strong finish at the other end which gave keeper William Harkness no chance. With only 5 minutes to go dynamo continued pressing and Matthew Tambini grabbed the winner from a tight angle in the box after another goalmouth scramble.
Sunday 23rd December 2007 Dynamo - 2 Melbourne United - 0 Dynamo whites had to work had against a much improved Melbourne side to win their last league game before the Christmas break. The teams were very evenly matched, with every ball being fought for in midfield and chances on goal few and far between. Kyle O'Donaghue made some strong runs through the midfield to get a shot on goal, but the big Melbourne keeper looked comfortable. Melbourne also made some good breaks, keeping defenders Jawad Uddin and James Price busy at the other end, but keeper William Harkness was equal to the couple of shots which got through and the game finished goal-less at half time. In the second half dynamo played with more confidence and started to pass the ball out to the wings and get crosses in on the Melbourne goal. It was starting look like a goal wouldn't come until Alexander Reed broke the deadlock, firing in a right foot shot from the edge on the area. Melbourne still looked dangerous on the break until Thomas Hall wrapped up the win with a great strike from distance which flew into the top corner. Man of the match was Kyle O'Donaghue who battled for the ball throughout and ran tirelessly to support both attack and defence.
Sunday 9th December 2007 Dynamo - 4 Kirby Muxloe Knights - 1 Dynamo Whites produced an excellent performance to beat Kirby Muxloe, the team immediately above them in the table. Dynamo started with confidence, passing the ball well and creating chances on the opposition goal. In a big improvement on their last game, dynamo used every opportunity created to get a shot away on goal, and this was soon rewarded when Kyle O'Donaghue followed up a through ball to open the scoring. Kirby Muxloe looked dangerous on the break, with a couple of skilled runners and they forced an equaliser from a re-bound off keeper William Harkness. However, great credit to dynamo for refusing to let the game slip away from them, and striker Matthew Tambini scored from a re-bound off another shot from distance to make it 2-1 at half time.
In the second half dynamo grew in confidence and looked by far the better team. The defensive duo of Man of the Match James Price and Jawad Uddin cancelled out the threat of Kirby Muxloe's runners, and the Dynamo mid-field controlled the game. Kyle O'Donaghue scored a third with a cool finish into the corner of the net after running clean through onto an excellent pass, then Josh Philips cut in from the left wing to make it 4. Great work from Liam Heane on the right wing, and Alexander Reed on the left and up-front, both unlucky not to be rewarded with a goal. All in all a great display of good passing football, justifying the 4-1 scoreline.
Sunday 25th November 2007 Quorn Terriers - 1 Dynamo - 0 Dynamo whites showed the Jeckyll and Hyde side of their character, losing 1-0 to a Quorn Terriers side just below them in the league and missing out on a chance to climb a place in the table. Dynamo dominated possession and territory throughout the game, but rarely threatened the Quorn goal. Playing against the wind in the first half, Dynamo gave away a soft goal when indecision amongst the defenders in their own box allowed Quorn to poke the ball home. This was a rare chance for Quorn, as Dynamo forced their way upfield but couldn't create any clear chances. Their build-up play was good, with midfielder Kyle O'Donaghue winning plenty of ball and wings Alexander Reed and Liam Heane getting plenty of crosses over.
The pattern continued in the second half, with Josh Philips contributing a good committed display on the left, and Jawad Uddin and James Price comfortable at the back. With the wind now behind them Dynamo forced a series of corners, but again hardly troubled the Quorn keeper and eventually time ran out on a disappointing display.
Sunday 11th November 2007 Dynamo - 4 Ibstock Panthers - 0 Dynamo Whites were rewarded for their good recent form with an emphatic win over Ibstock panthers. Dynamo started in confident form, passing the ball well and getting a number of crosses into the Ibstock area. Initially it looked as though the hard work would not result in goals, until Alexander Reed lashed home the first goal from a Liam Heane cross. Matthew Tambini then played in midfielder Kyle O'Donaghue for the second for a comfortable lead at half time. The second half continued in the same fashion, with dynamo moving the ball well onto the wings and getting a number of crosses and promising corners. Credit to the back three of William Harkness in goal and defenders Jawad Uddin and James Price for keeping their concentration to ensure a clean sheet. Man of the match Alexander Reed added a second goal, followed by a deserved first goal of the season from Liam Heane. A great result and more importantly a good flowing performance.
Sunday 21st October 2007 Coalville Ravens - 2 Dynamo Whites - 1 Dynamo Whites turned in an excellent performance against League leaders Coalville, a team that had scored 6 or 7 goals in all 3 of their league games to date. The first half was very evenly matched, with Dynamo's defensive duo of Jawad Uddin and James Price organised at the back, helped out by wingers Alexander Reed and Liam Heane. There were few chances for either side, with Dynamo coming closest with an Alexander Reed free kick which the Coalville keeper touched over the bar.
In the second half the game opened up, with both sides making chances. Stand-in keeper Josh Philips made a couple of good saves, one a fantastic double save before Coalville pressure finally prodcued a goal. A second goal soon followed as Dynamo began to tire a little, but their heads did not go down, and they started to put all the pressure on the Coalville goal. Kyle O'Donaghue forced in a goal from close range after a goalmouth scramble to set up a nervous finish for Coalville, and Dynamo nearly grabbed an equaliser right at the end, but the ball went just wide. All in all a great perfromance from Dynamo, who showed they can match any of the teams in their division.
Sunday 23rd September 2007 Kegworth Imps 1 Dynamo Whites 1 This was a match that Dynamo Whites dominated from start to finish, but just couldn't get the ball in the net. Played on a small pitch in blustery conditions Dynamo took control of the game, moving the ball well out to the wings, and firing in shots from distance to test the Kegworth keeper. The game was goal-less at half time but it seemed just a matter of time before a goal came, though the second half continued as the first, with the Kegworth goal leading a charmed life as shots slipped agonisingly past the post a number of times. Kegworth then took the lead against the run of play, via an own goal from a rare corner. Dynamo continued their onslaught on the Kegworth goal, with James Price unleashing a 25 yard shot which rattled the cross-bar before Man of the Match Kyle O'Donaghue at last pushed the ball past the Kegworth keeper for the equaliser. Credit to fit again keeper William Harkness for staying alert to deny another Kegworth attack near the end of the game, and to the whole team for another good display of attacking football which deserved more than a draw.
