Sunday 3rd February 2008 Dynamo 4 Leicester Nirvana 6 Football can be a funny old game! After weeks of under performing Dynamo finally found their old form, fight and passion, and picked title favourites Nirvana to do it against. In terrible conditions Dynamo stated well and five minutes in took the lead. Oliver Williams and Tom Hackney to put Sean Johnston through on goal but he was upended in the area, and Danny Bryans smashed the resulting penalty home. Nirvana replied instantly, as Dynamo failed to clear a corner and the scores were level. Moments later Nirvana were ahead as they cut through the Dynamo defence to lead 2-1. In past week the heads would have dropped, but that wasn’t the case. Dynamo pressed and from a Bryans cross, Johnston brilliantly controlled, turned and volleyed Dynamo level, and on the stroke of half time a Johnston cross was handled and Bryans smashed his second penalty home to leave the half time score 3-2 to the Mo’s. Within 20 seconds of the restart Nirvana were level and 4 minutes later lead by 4 goals to 3 from the penalty spot. Again Dynamo pressed and scored the best goal of the game. With 10 minutes left to play Jim Hockedy won the ball in midfield and passed to Arran Mistry, who beat a player and knocked the ball into Arran Carss. He teed the ball up for Bryans who calmly slotted the ball home for his 4 th hatrick of the season. Nirvana turned the screw and with 5 minutes to play broke Dynamo hearts with a fifth. As the Mo’s pressed for another equaliser Nirvana hit a sixth and still had time to miss the 4 th penalty of the game, to leave the final score 6-4 to the visitors. Despite the reverse Dynamo played admirably. Arran Carss was energetic in midfield while Daniel Bryans lead the front line well. It was Billy Wells, however who picked up man of the match, marshalling the Mo’s defence superbly. Dynamo now need to continue this form as they make the short trip up the A6 for next weeks local derby at Barrow, who will no doubt want revenge for earlier in the season when the Mo’s won by the odd goal in seven.
Sunday 20th January 2008 Dynamo 0 Whetstone Juniors 5 Loughborough Dynamo bowed out of this season County Cup at the hands of one of the favourites left in the competition. Dynamo shuffled the team around to accommodate the payecy opposition side with Kyle Pearson stepping into the centre of the park and Tom Moores slotting into the right of midfield. Whetstone started the brighter and pushed Dynamo onto the back foot, with Liam Richards forced into an early save. The pressure told and the away side took the in scrappy fashion as Dynamo failed to clear the lines and the ball was slotted home. Dynamo could have drawn level but Rolf Beattie was unable to reach Moores cross and the chance went begging. On the stroke of half time the Mo’s defence was sliced open again and the score line doubled. Dynamo started the second half brightly and looked the more likely to score. Josh Winterton played Daniel Bryans in on gaols but he shot wide, and moments later the same two players combined with the keeper saving well from Bryans shot. From the resulting goal kick Whetstone went straight through the Dynamo side to score a third. Meneeley then fouled a whetstone player to allow the score to become 4-0 from the penalty spot and the scoring was completed late on with yet another simple finish. Dynamo did have some plus point, including the return to form of Arran Carrs, and as the old saying goes, “we can now concentrate on the league!!”
Sunday 20th January 2008 Harborough Town 2 Dynamo 1 Dynamo sunk to a fourth defeat in a row to a team who simply want to win the game than they did. In very blustery conditions the Mo’s had to rely on the goalkeeping of Liam Richards and a little bit of luck to keep the home side at bay. Both Harborough goals came as a result of slack marking from set pieces and had Richards not brilliantly tipped a penalty over the bar the score would have increased before the half time break. Dynamo started the second half the livelier, and reduced the score in the second minute. Man of the match Tom Hackney threaded a defence splitting ball through to Daniel Bryans who obliged with a nice finish. Disappointingly apart from a late flurry which saw Arran Carrs and Billy Wells go close with efforts Dynamo made no inroad into the home team and once again came away from the game with nothing more than they deserved.
Sunday 16th December 2007 Hinckley Utd - 4 Dynamo - 0 Loughborough Dynamo suffered a second defeat in as many weeks as they went down 4-0 to top of the table Hinckley . Throughout the 60 minutes Dynamo only managed one shot on goal, and were found wanting all over the pitch. Credit has to go to Hinckley who were a good side as the table suggests, they passed the ball well and played for each other, which was in sharp contrast to the disorganised Dynamo side who were constantly arguing with each other. The first goal on 10 minutes was from a corner which was floated in for an unmarked Hinckley player to nod home. The second soon followed as the Hinckley winger walked past three Dynamo defenders, who didn’t put a challenge in, to feed his striker to double the advantage. The game was over as a contest just before the break. A clever through ball split the Mo’s defence and as the striker went through Billy Wells brought him down inside the area, with the resulting penalty calmly dispatched. A change of formation at half time saw an improvement in performance, with Josh Winterton adding a degree of control to the midfield. A frozen Sean Johnston fired the only Dynamo chance wide after great build up play from Daniel Bryans. Hinckley finished the scoring off thanks to a Robbie Moulding own goal, before keeper Liam Richards was force off through injury and Bryans stepped up to take the glove pulling off heroics in the goal. With Fleckney to come just before the turn of the year Dynamo will need to improve and get back into the old winning habit.
Sunday 9th December 2007 Dynamo - 1 Royce Rangers - 6 Loughborough Dynamo were out played and out muscled by a physical but well drilled Royce Rangers on Sunday. Dynamo found themselves 1 down in the second minute. The defence failed to clear the ball which was simply turned into an unguarded net. Dynamos huffed and puffed but were second to every ball, until Oliver Williams played a delightful ball through to Daniel Bryans who rounded the keeper to level the score with 20 on the clock. In first half stoppage time Royce were awarded a corner which Dynamo failed to clear, and as the ball was crossed in for the second time a Royce striker scored with a brilliant header to leave the half time score 2-1 The Mo’s defence was again exposed in the first minute of the second half as Royce added a third and the game was as good as over when Wells put through his own goal two minutes later for 4-1. The fight went out of Dynamos game and all but Josh Winterton, Tom Fowkes and the tireless Daniel Bryans seemed to give up, so it came as no surprise the Royce added 2 goals late on leaving the final score 6-1 to the visitors. This was a disappointing end to Dynamos home form for 2007 which had seen them unbeaten, but with a visit to Hinckley next weekend they have the chance to redeem themselves in time for Christmas.
Sunday 2nd December 2007 Wigston Youth - 0 Dynamo - 4 (County Cup) Sunday saw Loughborough Dynamo progress into the last 8 of the County cup with a 4-0 win over a spirited Wigston side. Dynamo were the first side to show any attacking intent with Daniel Bryans firing wide, a theme that would be consistent for the Dynamo side throughout the game. Playing with the slope Dynamo enjoyed the majority of the first half possession with Thomas Moores in particular lively on the right flank. Dynamo were guilty of failing to hit the target and saw at least 15 first half shots fly past the post, and it wasn’t until just before half time that they took the lead. Bryans saw his shot parried by the Wigston keeper and Sean Johnston was on hand to tap in from close range. Dynamo played better in the second half as they attacked the slope and as the game wore on the Wigston back line began to falter. Bryans made the score 2-0 with a deft header from a Johnston corner, and Johnston made it 3 with a cracking finish from 25 yards into the top corner. Bryans wrapped the scoring up with 10 to play, capping a fine personal performance, as he ran half the pitch before lifting the ball over the keeper. Oliver Williams was magnificent at the heart of the Dynamo midfield, and was unlucky not to add to the score with a long range effort, but 4 goals were enough and Dynamo now wait to see who they draw out of the hat as the competition hots up!
Sunday 25th November 2007 Dynamo - 4 Coalville - 0 Daniel Bryan’s third hatrick of the season helped Loughborough Dynamo stretch their winning streak to 4 matches with a 4-0 victory on Sunday. Bryans had Dynamo 1-0 up inside 3 minutes. Man of the match Kyle Pearson won a fearsome tackle and combined with Rolf Beattie to release Bryans who poked the ball under the keeper. Next it was Coalville who went on the attack, with keeper Liam Richards forced to dive at the feet of their strikers to keep the Mo’s in the game. Dynamo huffed and puffed but it was Coalville who looked the better side and but for some poor finishing could have gone into the break in the lead. The half time introduction of Thomas Moores saw an immediate improvement in Dynamos performance. Firstly Moores latched onto a Hackney pass before zipping a low cross which neither Bryans nor Beattie could finish, he then made the score 2-0 tapping in from a Sean Johnston corner. A goal mouth scramble then saw Bryan’s make it 3-0 signalling a change in the Dynamo goal with Sanjay Rajput making his first appearance between the sticks and pulling off a great save at the feet of yet another Coalville striker. With 10 minutes to play Bryans completed his hatrick with a great run and finish capping a fine individual display. Dynamo had further chances with Moores, Robbie Moulding and Liam Richards all going close. On another day Coalville could have come away with more out of the game so Dynamo should count themselves lucky to take all 3 points as the focus now turns to next weeks county cup match away at Wigston.
Sunday 4th November 2007: Dynamo - 7 Houghton Rangers - 0 Loughborough Dynamo eased into round 4 of the County Cup with an emphatic victory over Division four leaders Houghton Rangers. The opening exchanges favoured the Mos with both wide men Rolf Beattie and Jim Hockedy looking lively. Dynamo took the lead on nine minutes when Josh Winterton’s excellent deep cross was headed home by Rolf Beattie. The score was then doubled within a minute. This time Daniel Bryans beat 5 Rangers players on the left flank and his cross was slotted home by Sean Johnston. Dynamo put the game beyond doubt just before half time. Winterton hit his first of the season with and long range effort and then on the stroke of half time he added his second when he calmly smashed a penalty into the bottom corner. The second half was constant pressure from Dynamo. Oliver Williams made a telling contribution from the centre of the park, whilst the defence, although rarely troubled, held a good line, with Tom Fawlkes at full back outstanding, and keeper Liam Richards making a fine save on a cold afternoon. The pressure eventually told and Dynamo put Rangers to the sword. Rolf Beattie fired home the 5 th after good work from Tom Moores. Moores himself made it 6 after Bryans saw his effort bounce back off the post. And Bryans completed the scoring late on, sliding the ball under the keeper, to make the final score 7-0 to the Mo’s.
Sunday 28th October 2007 Dynamo 4 Barrow Town 3 Sunday was derby day at the NSG as Dynamo under 11s entertained neighbours Barrow in what proved to be a closely fought, nail biting game. Dynamo started the stronger and with only 8 seconds on the clock Daniel Bryans latched onto Josh Wintertons pass but shot straight at the Barrow keeper. Barrow fought hard in midfield but it was Dynamo who continued to create all the early chances with Bryans guilty a several further misses. Dynamo eventually turned the chances into goals. On 10 minutes Bryans picked the ball up deep inside his own half, ran the length of the field and calmly slotted the ball home. A second goal followed 5 minutes later when Bryans cross from the left was stroked home at the second attempt by Thomas Hackney to leave Dynamo 2-0 up and looking pretty. The second goal spurred Barrow into life and as the clock ran down to half time they forced a corner. From the resulting goalmouth scramble the ball was poked home, and on the stroke of half time they equalised, capitalising on a defensive blunder the striker scored off the post to give the visitors the psychological upper hand. The second half started badly for Dynamo as from the kick off Barrow went forward. A cross from the right saw Liam Richards in the Dynamo goal challenged by two strikers and as the ball came loose it was rolled into the empty net to give Barrow the lead. Dynamo then showed tremendous spirit as they hit straight back, this time Sean Johnston’s through ball was picked up by the lively Bryans and he obliged with another good finish. Bryans still wasn’t finished and completed his hatrick minutes later picking up a pass from Rolf Beattie and driving home from 20 yards, to put the Mo’s back in front. The final 20 minutes was a Barrow onslaught on the Dynamo goal, even seeing the keeper up for corners. However Dynamo showed real grit and determination with Richards, Pearson, Meneely, Wells and Fawlkes performing admirably, to see the Mo’s pick up another 3 points in the tightest of fashions. Although not a pretty performance this was without doubt the best all-round team display of the season with every member of the squad giving 150% effort and performing like a true footballer.
Sunday 14th October 2007 Dynamo - 4 Harborough Tn - 1 Dynamo got back to winning ways with an emphatic 4-1 home victory With Arran Carss, making his first start and Josh Winterton in fine form Dynamo looked strong through the centre of the park and with the pace of Daniel Bryans and man of the match Thomas Hackney up front, the Mos always had an outlet. It was Winterton who created the first chance after 5 minutes but the Harborough keeper saved Bryans shot well. Dynamo took the lead on 17 minutes, when Bryans picked up a weak goal kick to fire home. Bryans made it 2 moments later running onto Wintertons fine pass to bundle the ball past the keeper to leave the half time score 2-0. Dynamo started the second half on the offensive, with Hackney seeing the keeper save smartly from a long range effort, before the lively Sean Johnston made it 3 with a great shot into the top corner. Rolf Beattie was also in fine form running the Harborough back line ragged. The Dynamo defence and midfield then switched off allowing a Harborough striker to reduce the deficit with their only shot of the match. Dynamo regained the three goal cushion as Bryans completed his hatrick late on with a cool finish, to cap a fine team performance
Sunday 7th October 2007 Leicester Nirvana - 2 Dynamo - 0 Dynamo finally lost their unbeaten start to the season at the hands of a very capable Nirvana side, in a tight game that in all fairness the home side deserved to win, but only just. Dynamo were the first to show any attacking intent as Josh Winterton passed to Daniel Bryans only to see his shot held by the Nirvana keeper. The home side then went on the attack and forced Liam Richards in the Dynamo goal into a fine string of saves. Firstly he saved one on one, then bravely dived at a strikers feet before pushing a stinging shot over the bar with his finger tips. Nirvana turned their pressure into a goal in the 30 th minute. A cleverly worked corner left Dynamo at sixes and sevens and an unmarked striker was able to score on the line to leave the half time score 1-0 to the home side.Dynamo improved in the second half, and defended the slope well. Winterton was outstanding in the midfield showing real heart and desire. The impressive Thomas Hackney went closest for Dynamo in the second half dragging a shot just wide, whilst Winterton just couldn’t get the ball out from under his feet with the goal at his mercy. In the final minute Nirvana were awarded a free kick some 25 yards out, which was lobbed into the area and over Richards head into the net. Although Dynamo didn’t create many chances this was a much improved battling performance, and with confidence still high it isn’t all doom and gloom just yet.
Sunday 30th September 2007 County Cup Castle Donnington 2004 - 0 Dynamo - 4 Dynamo progressed into round 2 of the County Cup with a fine 4-0 win at Castle Donnington. Dynamo started the game well and created an early chance with Daniel Bryans going close, after good work from Josh Winterton, and it was Bryans who gave the Mo’s the lead after 15 minutes. Thomas Hackney fed a ball through the heart of the Donnington defence for Bryans to race onto and slot past the keeper for his 7 th goal of the season. Dynamo went further ahead when Hackney was fouled on the edge of the box. Oliver Williams took the resulting free kick and dispatched the ball past the helpless Donnington keeper to leave the half time score 2-0 Dynamo started to pass the ball in the second half and produced a better display. A 3 rd goal arrived when a Donnington defender curled the ball past his own keeper. The Mo’s then created numerous chances, with Bryans, Arran Carss and Arran Mistry all unlucky not to add to the score while Winterton was unfortunate with a long range effort. Hackney added a 4th goal late on with a well taken finish to cap a robust Dynamo performance.
Sunday 16th September 2007 Stoneygate Lions - 1 Dynamo - 3 Dynamo started the game defending a slight slope and a stiff breeze and were largely out muscled by the Stoneygate midfield in the early stages. Slowly the front line began to get to grips with the conditions and Dynamo began to exert some pressure, with Daniel Bryans, Sean Johnston and in particular the lively Tom Fawlkes going close to giving the Mo’s the lead. A goal looked likely and when it came it was from Stoneygate as their striker knocked the ball over Liam Richards. Dynamo began to pile the pressure on the Lions goal and had it not been for a string of brilliant saves from their goalkeeper, notably from Oliver Williams and Robbie Moulding they would have been level, and even when Dynamo did get the ball in the net the linesman’s flag ruled Johnston’s smart finish out for offside, leaving the halftime score 1-0 to the home side. The second half started with Dynamo continuing to attack and they deservedly levelled when Josh Winterton sent Daniel Bryans through, the keeper saved his first effort but Bryans followed up to nod the rebound into the unguarded goal. Dynamo went 2-1 up when Jim Hockedy scored with a well taken finish, and he followed this up with his second and Dynamos third shortly after. Williams then smashed a 25 yard free kick against the bar and Tom Moores was unable convert Fawlkes cross. Hockedy was then denied a brilliant third as his long range chip was somehow tipped over the bar by the Lions goalkeeper. Although not a fluent performance Dynamos defence were marshalled well by the impressive Billy Wells, and showed good fight through Josh Winterton in the midfield, but three goals were enough as Dynamo chalked up their first win of the season.
Sunday 9th September 2007 Dynamo - 3 Hinckley Utd - 3 The second game of the season brought yet another good performance from Dynamo who can be pleased with their afternoons work. Dynamo started the game on the back foot against a well drilled Hinckley side, and it took some minutes just to start to string a series of passes together. It was against the run of play that Dynamo took the lead on 14 minutes. Jim Hockedy won the ball on the edge of the Dynamo penalty area and passed to Sean Johnston who released Daniel Bryans down the right flank. Bryans outpaced two defenders, running the length of the Hinckley half before pulling a cross back from the by-line for Hockedy to finish off the move he started with a smart finish past the keeper. Hinckley still pressed and forced Dynamo keeper Liam Richards into a full stretch one handed save, but he could do nothing about the Hinckley equaliser just before the break, after a cross from the left was dispatched by an unmarked striker. Dynamo began the second half on the offensive, with Oliver Williams and Josh Winterton running the middle of the park and Hockedy and Rolf Beattie outstanding on the flanks. Dynamo went in front again, this time Johnston passed to Bryans who ran straight through the Hinckley defence again and smashed his left foot shot home. Bryans added a third minutes later. Johnston ’s corner was flicked on by Hockedy and Bryans looped his header high into the net for 3-1. Dynamo had further chances with Bryans, Johnston, Mistry, and Hackney all failing to hit the target, and Hinckley took full advantage with an onslaught on the dynamo goal with Richards again rescuing the team with another brilliant one handed save. With ten to play the ball broke free in the Dynamo penalty area and was poked home by a Hinckley player to lead to a grandstand finish. In the dying moments a through ball caught out the Dynamo defence and the Hinckley striker ran through to lob the ball over the oncoming Richards to level the scores at 3-3, leaving dynamo once again to think of what could have been.
Sunday 2nd September 2007 Royce Rangers - 1 Dynamo - 1 Dynamo started their first 11 a-side match with a battling draw against a well organised Rangers side’ Dynamo were defending a fierce wind and slope, on an uneven-pot holed surface and contained the early onslaught from Rangers well. With 10 minutes on the clock dynamo took the lead thanks to a good team move. Man of the match Kyle Pearson and James Hockedy combined well down the right flank, to feed Sean Johnson whose clever pass set Daniel Bryans free to beat the keeper with a low shot into the corner of the net. Dynamo keeper Liam Richards was on hand with some good handling but Rangers were reduced to a series on long efforts, and Thomas Hackney should have scored after beating three defenders and the keeper with a mazy run down the left. Dynamo defended the slope well until first half stoppage time. Rangers sent a long ball into the box and as Richards came to claim the ball he fell down a pot hole, the Rangers striker followed up only to hit the post, again fortune went against Dynamo as the ball fell to another Rangers player who rolled the ball into the empty goal. Dynamo took command in the second half, first Oliver Williams blazed over from the edge of the box, and Josh Winterton headed over from a Johnson corner. Johnson himself pulled a cross across the face of goal with Neither Hockedy or Bryans unable to make contact. In the final minute Billy Wells hit a 25 yard shot that forced the Rangers keeper into a fine save only to see Arran Mistry put wide of the open goal in the follow up. Had Dynamo taken their chances then they would have taken all 3 points, but with honours even they were left to think of what could have been.
Sunday 23rd September 2007 Dynamo - 8 Countesthorpe Athletic - 1 Blustery conditions were again the order of the day as Loughborough dynamo entertained Countesthorpe Athletic at the NSG. Athletic seemed to settle quicker and managed to force two early corners before Dynamo began to take control. Two goals in as many minutes ensured the Mo’s had a comfortable lead. Firstly Oliver Williams hit a looping shot from just inside the Athletic half which bounced over the keeper and into the net. Daniel Bryans then finished off a great move involving Tom Fawlkes and Sean Johnston. Countesthorpe then exerted a bit of their own pressure and forced a goal back, only for dynamo in restore the two gaol cushion thanks to another long range effort, this time from the tireless Rolf Beattie, to leave the half time score 3-1. The half time introduction of Tom hackney and Arran Carss added a bit of zip to the dynamo performance and this had an immediate effect as the Mo’s went on a scoring spree. Williams made it 4 with a crashing drive into the top corner, and Sean Johnston got his first of the season with a good turn and finish after great play by Hackney. Hackney himself got in on the scoring running from the half way line to make it 6-1 Bryans then helped himself to his second before Hackney rounded the keeper to make the final score 8-1. In truth Dynamo could have had more, both Bryans and Hackney hit the woodwork, but a pleasing display ensured that the unbeaten start to the season continued in fine style.
